Members of the KJK squad competed at the 12th German Open (http://www.kyokushin-open. com/) on Saturday 29th September.
The tournament attracted competitors from as far afield as Spain, Pakistan and Russia.
After a tough day of full contact sparring, and competitive kata categories KJK members came away with the following excellent results.
Kata (womens) - Ellie Murphy - 2nd
Kata (mens) - Matt Bolt - 1st (Also awarded a set of swords which some of you have seen for "Best Kata")
Kumite (womens -60kg) - Ellie Murphy - 3rd
Kumite (mens -70kg) - Matt Bolt - 2nd
Kumite (mens +80kg) - Ben Robinson - 2nd & Danny Croft - 3rd
Also competing for the first time was Barry Greensides (mens -80kg) who fought well against an experience opponent who was the eventual winner.
Everyone agreed it was a fantastic experience, and thank the squad instructors, Sensei Alan Miller and Shihan Cliff Bolt for their invaluable input and training.
Photos and videos will appear on the Sevenoaks site in the near future, and videos can be seen on the association facebook page (www.facebook.com/ karatejutsukai).
